The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation announced the death of the first head of the department for interaction with the media, Vladimir Markin. Officially, the cause of Markin’s death is not named.
“Our colleague, the first head of the department for interaction with the media of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, a member of the Public Council under the Investigative Committee of Russia, Major General of Justice Vladimir Ivanovich Markin, has passed away. This is a heavy loss for all of us, ”the ministry said in a statement.
Markin was born in 1956 in Chelyabinsk. After studying at Moscow State University, Vladimir returned to Chelyabinsk, where he worked as a correspondent for the newspaper “Vecherny Chelyabinsk”. Later he moved to Moscow, hosted radio programs on the All-Union Radio.
The Investigative Committee emphasizes that it was thanks to his “extraordinary decisions, competent approach and progressive views” that the department managed to competently organize work with the media.
“This was a new trend in the work of the department, which made it possible to strengthen the confidence of citizens and destroy the existing stereotypes about the information isolation of state bodies,” the ICR stressed.
