Collingwood has acknowledged in a statement it’s “aware” of a video of Jordan De Goey partying in Bali, but says the club will comment further “as soon as it is in a position to do so.”

Footage of De Goey surfaced on social media on Friday and appears to show the controversial Magpies midfielder dancing and making crude tongue gestures to the camera and mimicking a sexual act while on a mid-season break.

The Pies responded to the incident on Saturday morning.

“The Collingwood Football Club is aware of video footage involving player Jordan De Goey that was taken in Bali in recent days,” the statement reads.

“The club will comment further as soon as it is in a position to do so.”

The 26-year-old’s decision to head to Bali during the mid-season bye, despite being approved by the club, was dubbed “stupid” by former Port Adelaide star Kane Cornes.

Cornes had no problems with players enjoying mid-season getaways, but believed given De Goey’s off-season incident — that saw him get temporarily stood down from Collingwood before having his assault and harassment charges resolved — it’s not in the best interests of the club or the 26-year old.

“How could you think going to Bali in the mid-season break when you’re Jordan De Goey was a good idea?” Cornes said on SEN’s Whateley.

“I don’t care — come for me as hard as you want on this opinion. It is a stupid thing for Jordan De G
Zoey to do to go to Bali at this stage of his career and at this stage of the season.

“He may just be sitting by the pool in Bali like he would be doing on the Gold Coast, but I would think that in the past he has been sucked into temptation and I would think it is easier to be sucked into temptation in Bali than it is somewhere in Victoria or Queensland.

“With the issues, he’s had overseas before in New York, he remains unsigned, everything is flying at Collingwood. Everything is going beautifully. They’ve forgiven him and he’s been OK, his form is probably playing to 70 percent of his potential, and has a level to go.

“I think it’s one of the more bizarre decisions I’ve seen. To believe that Collingwood would allow him to do that and people would say ‘hang on, he’s a grown man and he can do what he wants, it’s his four days off.

“In the middle of the year? These players get 12 weeks off plus mandatory four-day breaks, I would think if you’re going to do that, that would be a time to do it at the end of the year.

“Collingwood fans, anyone, come at me as hard as you want, it is a dumb thing for De Goey to do to go to Bali in the middle of the year.”

Geelong champion Cameron Mooney has unloaded on Collingwood for letting Jordan De Goey take a mid-season trip to Bali during its bye, calling it the “stupidest decision I’ve ever seen a football club make.”

De Goey has landed himself in hot water again after a video emerged on social media on Friday evening showing him partying at a Bali nightclub, making crude tongue gestures and mimicking a sexual act, while in another part of the footage an undisclosed figure appears to attempt to expose a woman’s breast before she pushes him away.

It comes after a turbulent off-season for the 26-year-old where he was arrested in New York and stood down by the Magpies before having his assault and harassment charges resolved in January.

Collingwood, who’s in the midst of a four-game winning streak to surge back into finals contention, is yet to comment publicly on the matter.

Other Fox Footy pundits have called out De Goey’s behavior as an “entitled” individual who has chosen “indulgence over discipline,” while it’s also been speculated that it could cost the out-of-contract midfielder/forward millions on his next deal.

‘But Mooney held the Magpies accountable first and foremost.

“I am staggered the club let him go. Whatever happens from here, Collingwood it’s on you. It’s the stupidest decision I’ve ever seen a football club make,” the triple-premiership player told Fox Footy Live.

“Eight months ago he was in the US, we know what happened there. He’s come back, he’s playing good footy, the club is playing footy, and now they’ve allowed him to go over there.

“Whether he was going to be stupid or not, just the fact that they let him get on that plane. You’ve made your bed Collingwood, you’re idiots.

“Every player has to tell their club where they’re going in their break. Someone has gone, ‘Bali, De Goey, yep tick. Off you go champ’.”

Former Hawthorn sharpshooter Ben Dixon concurred that Collingwood is “responsible” for ticking off his mid-season trip, calling for the club figure largely responsible for accepting De Goey’s request to go overseas to come forward.

Dixon also questioned why De Goey allowed his friends to video him and post footage on social media.

“If you’re going over there tell your mates to put your phone away. Why do you need to put that on Instagram? There’s nothing to gain from it,” he said.

“Treat it like a game, what do you do when you’re going to the MCG? Put your phone in a bag, you can’t use it.”

Mooney added: “The last time he was away, the phones came out. Have you not learned from eight months ago!? You can’t be that dumb.”

Fox Sports News’ Drew Jones highlighted how Pies coach Craig McRae has given all his players a clean slate since taking over this season, however, Mooney believed certain individuals needed to be treated differently.

Mooney revealed that former Geelong coach Mark Thompson rejected ex-Cats champion Matthew Scarlett’s bid to go on a footy trip in the early 2000s.

“Sometimes a coach has to put his foot down,” he said. “If he doesn’t like it, who cares, you’re the coach.”

Jordan De Goey’s behavior in Bali screams of an “entitled” individual who has chosen “indulgence over discipline”, according to three AFL greats.

De Goey has yet again courted controversy for his off-field actions, this time via a widely-circulated video on social media that shows him making crude tongue gestures to a camera and mimicking a sexual act at a nightclub in Bali, where he has traveled during Collingwood’s mid-season bye.

In another part of the footage, an undisclosed figure appears to attempt to expose a woman’s breast as she lay on a bar, with the woman batting him away.

Herald Sun reporter Jon Ralph told Fox Footy on Friday night that Collingwood privately concedes “this is a really poor look for De Goey”.\

Brisbane Lions champion Jonathan Brown said that while going overseas wasn’t necessarily an issue, De Goey had failed to show a basic level of common sense.

“I think in this situation with his history, the common sense would be to stay out of the public spotlight,” he said.

“It’s probably best to travel domestically or, if you’re overseas, make sure you’re off social media, stay out of the limelight.

“That’s the level of commonsense I would be expecting.”

Former St Kilda spearheads Nick Riewoldt said De Goey’s actions were, from a “pure football” standpoint, an indication he wasn’t committed to maximizing his talents as a player.
